The original name of the street was Ocean View Avenue. When Steinbeck's novel became world famous, the city of Monterey renamed the street and it became one of Monterey's major tourist attractions.
The coordinates above lead to the "Spirit of Monterey", a wax cabinet featuring many of Steinbeck's heroes. But I'd also like to draw your attention to three houses that played a main roll in the novel:
Doc's Laboratory,
Wing Chong's Market, and
La Ida's Cafe. All three are still there, though serving diffent purposes.
