Congratulations! You have found the first Waymark in the Lake of the Ozarks region!
This site is the ruin of the turn-of-the-century stone mansion that was built Robert M. Snyder, owner of the Snyder Gas Company in Kansas City. Snyder didn't see his dream home completed. He died in 1906 in one of the first automobile accidents in Kansas City. The mansion was completed in 1922 by Snyder's three sons, but later it was destroyed by fire in 1942. The empty shell of this structure overlooks Ha Ha Tonka Spring and the Lake of the Ozarks from atop a 250-foot bluff.
There are several Geocaches in this area and two additional stone structures that were part of the original mansion grounds. The state park also has 15 miles of trails, 20+ picnic areas, one of Missouri's largest natural springs, a natural bridge, a shelter cave called Devil's Kitchen, and River Cave.
