In Boston's Back Bay section is the Christian Science Plaza. One of the buildings, currently known as 101 Belvidere Street, is an engraved date stone that has the date, "1971." The stone is is below knee level, near the east end of the building, and faces the fountain. The engraved numbers are large and deep enough to put a GPSr in them!
The date signifies the time of a major construction of the campus that included this building, 177 Huntington Avenue (the 22 story building nearby), the reflecting pool, and the Sunday School building at the other end of the reflecting pool. Below the reflecting pool is a parking garage. All of these structures were built during an expansion of the campus, designed by I. M. Pei & Partners and Araldo Cossutta, Associated Architects. Currently, the space at this building is being leased by Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies.
Year of construction: 1971
