This building, dated 1903 and opened in 1904. The original earlier methodist chapel on the site was built in 1815. It was a plain square building with a schoolroom below, and improvements were carried over the years. Due to an increase in the number of children the school became too small and a new day and Sunday School was built alongside in 1873. By 1902 the state of repair of the old church made it unfit for purpose and Dodworth Urban District condemned it. The Rev. T.T.Taylor gave a plot of land adjacent to the site for a new church to be built. Foundation stone for the new church was laid on 27th July 1903. Church is in the Barnsley Methodist Circuit.
Adjacent to the church is the old Wesleyan School dating from 1873.
