Das Caricatura Museum wurde am 1. Oktober 2008 als eigenständige Abteilung Caricatura des Historischen Museums in Frankfurt eröffnet. Es befindet sich im Leinwandhaus, eines der wenigen Steinhäuser der Gotik in Frankfurt. Das Wahrzeichen der Caricatura ist eine vor dem Gebäude stehende, von Hans Traxler gestaltete Elchskulptur aus Bronze mit Trenchcoat, Weste und Hut.
In Rahmen der Dauerausstellung sind Texte, Zeichnungen und Plastiken von Künstlern der Neuen Frankfurter Schule (von F.W. Bernstein, Robert Gernhardt, Chlodwig Poth, Hans Traxler und F.K. Waechter) zu sehen. Daneben richtet das Museum Wechselausstellungen aus und veranstaltet Lesungen und Buchvorstellungen.
The Caricatura Museum was established on October 1st, 2008 as an independent department Caricatura of the Historical Museum in Frankfurt. It is located in the Leinwandhaus, one of the few stone buildings of the Gothic in Frankfurt. The landmark of the Caricatura is moose sculpture made of bronze with a trench coat, vest and hat designed by Hans Traxler, standing in front of the building.
In the the permanent collection are texts, drawings and sculptures by the artists of the Neue Frankfurter Schule (F.W. Bernstein, Robert Gernhardt, Chlodwig Poth, Hans Traxler and F.K. Waechter). In addition the Museum organizes temporary exhibitions, readings and book presentations.
