In the Newton Center section of Newton, at the intersection of Langley Road, Summer Street, and Beacon Street, is a bronze disk set in the sidewalk.

The MassDOT/Mass Highway site has the following describing the disk:

"ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF LANGLEY ROAD AT THE SOUTHEAST END OF THE MUNICIPAL PARKING LOT, 46.5 FT SOUTHWEST OF POLE 229/6, 72.0 FT NORTHWEST OF SPINDLE OF HYDRANT, 15.49 FT SE, 21.16 FT NORTHWEST AND 56.47 FT NORTHWEST (ON LINE) OF THREE DH'S IN THE GRANITE CURB."

There is also a semi-permanent trash can about five feet away.

The disk has been severely scraped - so much that the engraved surface is difficult to read. From reading the web site data sheet and comparing it to the disk found, I am reasonably sure that the mark found is the one described in the datasheet.

The engraving has "Massachusetts Geodetic Survey" along the inside, and then, hand engraved is (probably) "10610" above the circle and dot at the mark's center.
