The Celeiro da vala (Vala Barn) is an old Royal Barn adapted for cultural purposes.

"Its origin dates back to the 17th century and was closely connected to the House of Infantado - a Royal Institution which was a heritage organization and an asset for the second sons of monarchs.

In the troubled times after the liberal revolution, the House of Infantado is extinguished in 1834 by a decree of D. Pedro IV. All their assets were integrated into the National Treasury. In 1836 the building passed to the Company Lezírias (an agricultural), widening its agricultural character.

Outside the building, a niche with a marble pediment, surmounted by a cross in stone with the date 1657, marking an old step in the passion of Christ."

"With the passage of time the Barn terminates his agricultural service and was abandoned. In 1998 it was acquired by the Municipality of Salvaterra de Magos, and began a lengthy process of recovery, while respecting the urban traces, and thus adopted for cultural purposes."
