Long Description:
This historical maker on Nathanael Green is located along North Tryon Street, on the sidewalk of the side of Tryon where the figurative statue The Future is located. It is about 75 - 100 feet away from the intersection of Trade Street and Tryon Street.

The North Carolina seal is flanked on the top of the plaque with L 19, the marker's identification number. The text of the plaque reads:
"L 19
Nathanael Greene
1742-1786
Replaced Horatio Gates as leader of American army opposing Lord Cornwallis. He assumed command in Charlotte. Dec. 3, 1780.
Division of Archives and History
1987"
