This sculpture is by Kenneth Hughes...although the date seems to be a mystery. It depicts the Mary sitting with the infant Jesus sitting on her lap. Joseph stands behind them. The work presents the figures indistinctly and a viewer would not necessarily know that this was the Holy Family without the title informing us.

"This fine sculpture was designed by prominent sculptor and artist Kenneth Hughes. It represents an interesting modern artistic interpretation of a classical view of the holy family. Southwark Cathedral has always prided itself on being a forward thinking institution yet still respecting the ancient institutions and this piece is a classic example of that way of thinking. The artist has other works in London galleries."
