The botanical park was created in 1888. The Lamberton Conservatory at 171 Reservoir Ave, Rochester NY, 14620 was constructed in 1911, was named in honor of Alexander B. Lamberton who was the President of the Parks Board from 1902 to 1915.

This city park is includes an arboretum with hundreds of specimen trees from the Ellwanger and Barry nursery collection and with special attention to an extensive collection of lilac species, started by horticulturist John Dunbar in 1892 with 20 varieties. Today, over 500 varieties of lilacs cover 22 of Highland Park's 155 acres.
Conservatory Hours: 10 AM - 4 PM every day except Christmas Day
