The chapel portion of this church was built in 1896 in a Romanesque Revival style. This style was was revived in the later part of the 1800's when Boston architect, Henry Hobson Richardson was a proponent of this style, used this style in his masterpiece, Trinity Church in Boston. After Richardson's death his firm became Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge. Shepley continued the Romanesque Revival style when he designed the chapel portion of the church.
The sanctuary portion of the church was built in 1899 again in Romanesque Revival style however the architect was Theodore Link of St. Louis. Link's most well known building is St. Louis Union Station.
In 1961 with declining membership the church considered moving further to the west but after being unable to find a suitable location the congregation voted to remain at its current location.
