This tomb monument is located about 50 meters east of the east gate of Augusta Raurica. It was the monument for a noble citizen of the late 1st century AD. The monument is a "bustum" i.e. it was erected at the site of cremation after the dead was burned to ashes. It has a diameter of 15 meters and was probably about 4 to 8 meters high.

According to a scientific analysis it was a 30 to 40 years old person, most probably male with a spiral disease. A large amount of grave goods was found as well, mostly food like grain, animal bone, wine amphorae.
