This monument for the
7th Indiana Battery Light Artillery is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. This is one of three markers to the 7th Indiana Battery on the battlefield. The 7th Indiana Battery was organized at Indianapolis, Indiana and mustered into Federal service on December 2, 1861. This marker indicates the position held by the 7th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 p.m. on September 19, 1863.

Short Physical Description
This standard Indiana marker consists of a 4' x 4' x 4'8" high rock-faced oolitic stone block with a peaked top and a 12" x 18" bronze plaque affixed to its front. Marks battery's position in Dyer Field.
