Dramatic and breathtaking view of the Susquehanna River, its valley which separates Wrightsville to Columbia and also of Chickies Rock. Just magnificent.

On a clear day you can see forever and so it seems to be a Chickies Rock. There is an open area of green with a gazebo when entering the area. The parking lot is a few feet away. Anyway, this area is a rest stop before undertaking the long hike along Chickies Trail which winds through the valley. The Chickies Rock Overlook Trail leads from parking along Route 441 to the top of Chickies Rock, roughly following the old trolley grade
There are two long split rail fence runs which meet at a right angle. It is from here you can catch some spectacular views. The view was particularly nice as the leaves are now off the trees so you can see a bit more into the valley below. In the warm months visitors are greeted with lush scenes of green, soaring birds and annoying insects. Being ever the architectural enthusiast, I particularly liked seeing the Wrightsville-Columbia bridge peeking through the naked tree line. The cost here is free and so is the parking. The green area, lot and Susquehanna Heritage trail area are off of Chickies Hill Road which is just off the Lincoln Highway bypass, Route 30.
