We stumbled into Simpson's Old Time Museum almost by accident, and ended up staying hours, enjoying the exhibits, and the fine conversation with owner, Rick Simpson.
There are so many authentic artifacts to enjoy - a chuck wagon in the main room, buggies, saddles, taxidermy, and numerous everyday items from the 1800s.
Owners, Larry and Rick Simpson also operate Skeleton Creek Productions, and the museum has several Old West movie sets which have been used in the filming of their five Western movies. You can walk into these rooms and feel transported back to the early frontier days. There is a bunkhouse, saloon, hotel room, jail, bank, hotel stairwell, mercantile, livery stable, and a church. Many local events take place in these movie sets. You can rent the church for a wedding, or the saloon for a birthday party. So much fun.
Rick Simpson (alias Stormy Lane), Larry Simpson (Texas Clapsaddle), and Tom Ward (Cimarron Simmons) are the main characters in the Westerns. They pride themselves in producing good, clean fun, like we used to watch at the Saturday matinees, that have entertained school children for years. There are many photos and other movie memorabilia in the museum as well.
Step in the front door and step into history. You'll have a blast. The museum is free, however, donations are appreciated.
