This station, a NH Dept. of Public Works and Highways standard triangulation disk, is located in Keene, NH.
It is set in top of a concrete retaining wall on the westbound side of NH Route 101, at the site of the Cheshire Railroad Stone Arch Bridge. It is across the street from this bridge, and in front of the remains of a bridge abutment that once supported a railroad overpass structure. The disk is about 2 feet above road surface level, and clearly visible.
There are no stampings on the disk, and a NHDOT datasheet is not available at their online site. It may possibly be a reference mark or azimuth mark for a nearby station, but a search through other station datasheets did not reveal any information to verify this. Call it an orphan.
Orphan disk was recovered in good condition. Any information that would solve the mystery of this mark is welcome.
