The swan above the doorway is not the original, that one was larger and was stolen and a new one had to be made. The whole of the frontage was changed in the late 1920s by the adddition of the two large bay windows and porch over the front door.
The 'WILDERSPOOL ALES' inscribed on the high level facia has also been added since the 1920s, - a picture from that era shows no facia - and was the livery of Greenall Whitley & Co Ltd. of Warrington. The pub is now owned by Thwaites, and the current licencees, Noel and Amanda have bought the tenancy from the Brewery.
Specials are served every day, tea & coffee is available as well as a good selection of traditional ales and food. There is a wide screen TV on site, a heated smoking area, and free WI-FI is available. Dominoes, pool and darts are supported games.
