Tak ("Taa-rK") city is the capital of the Thai province of the same name, found in northern Thailand, abutting Myanmar. The station for the province is found a little to the east of the city centre. In design entirely what one would expect from a provincial Thai bus station. A long, rectangular, covered waiting area, around which are 16 bus bays. At one end a shop and toilets, at the other ticket counters and a smaller waiting area. Around this, are clusted shops, waiting tuk tuk drivers (ready to whisk you around the town—negotiate price first), and a range of local folk, going here and there, in their lives.
Few westerners disembark in Tak city, most continue onwards to the border to have their visa processed (a visa run, as the process is known). Little English spoken, one needs to rediscover the art of mime.
