Developed from Grant Union Technical College. New campus in late 1950's. Campus used to dominate parking. Today, the campus is outgrown and parking dominates the space. Los Rios College District is three campuses and several outreach programs.

Parking permits have always been required. There are a number of temporary buildings crowded in now. One houses a Subway shop.
The campus office is on College Oak Dr. near Myrtle Av. and Orange Grove Av. 153 acres.
The south and east sides of the campus are bordered by a creek (no roads). Many local students attend here and hope to transfer to 4 yr. colleges. They RECOMMEND online classes!!
The next nearest campus is in Folsom, (a branch in Placerville), Cosumnes College (south county). CSUS is the central 4 year campus, or UCDavis (within driving range.
Program includes vocational. One program is a culinary course. That included making wine from the horticulture program.
It was one of the first to offer TIG Welding. Now one of the largest community colleges in the state. Notable alumni include one former assembly man, one former regent and an olympic swimming champion.
They are planning a 4 story parking structure for 1,748 cars.
