Long Description:
The Olympic Stadium of Barcelona was ready in 1929 but history decided something different. The stadium, designed by architect Pere Domènech i Roura for the 1929 Expo, was meant to host the People's Olympiad in 1936, a protest event against the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, but the event had to be cancelled due the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.
Two bronze statues depicting probably an two naked Antic athlets - equestrians. The horse of the first athlet one hoof raised, while the other has two hooves raised. Both athletes greet crowds. Both statues are installed here probablz from very beginning, i.e. from 1929.
