The New City Hall (Neue Rathaus) in Kassel was built in Renaissance Revival Architeture between 1905 and 1909.
Architect was Karl Roth, who built later on several huge city halls in Dresden, Wuppertal and Bochum.
The symetrical building shaped as a H with balconies, oriels, a wide staircase leading to a perron, ionic columns and a clocktower above the main entrance was errected for 3,2 Million Mark.
During World War II, the city hall was burned down, as well as its Huguenot neighbourhood. In 1950 it was rebuilt with a simplified roof without the clocktower.
Two golden Lion Statues keep watch at the stairs, which lead to the city arms above the main entrance.
