In 1901, a university preparatory school was established in Tonkawa. It was a feeder institute for the University of Oklahoma. It received its first accreditation in 1948, dropped its high school element in 1951, and became known as Northern Oklahoma College in 1965.
Two additional campuses opened: Enid in 1999 and Stillwater in 2003. The Enid campus is a two-year liberal arts community college offering four degreed programs with 64 areas of emphasis. Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate of Applied Sciences and Associate of Applied Sciences Cooperative Program.
The three campuses currently have an enrollment of over 2700 students, and the school is a leader in technology services in Oklahoma, with multiple on-line and interactive television courses available to assist those in rural and remote areas.
The Enid campus is located on the former campus of Phillips University. Purchased in 1999, this facility has ten buildings, including the beautiful stone Business Administration building shown in the gallery, and the innovative Astronomy Research Center with its David Harbour Solar Lab and observatory.
The school logo shows N O C, with a stylized lantern and flame inside the "O". There is a limited athletic program consisting of Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Volleyball and Men's Baseball. The athletic teams are known as the Jets.
