The plaque reads "A global conflict. 1939-1945
292,131 KIA; 670,846 wounded; 130,000 POW; 34,000 MIA;
$288 billion"
This was fought in Europe, Northern Africa, Asia, and Australia.
I don't know if the casualty figures include any of the allies.
Probably not. Figures for the Holocaust are approximately six million dead. Nagasaki and Hiroshima --
British took casualties before we entered the war; Australians, and Canadians also were wounded and died.
The plaque is mounted on a large boulder along a concrete HC accessible walkway.
