The following information is a brief summary taken from Wikipedia following their Re-use of text guidelines.

History

The Armadale line was opened on 2 May 1889. The original stations were Perth, Kelmscott and Armadale. Cannington and Welshpool opened later in 1897 and 1898 respectively.

The following stations then opened:

  • Woodlupine in 1899 (renamed Queens Park in 1912)
  • Goodwood in 1906 (renamed Belmont Park in 1979)
  • Ommitted from wiki page
    Gosnells in 1905
  • Rivervale, opened in 1906 (later renamed Burswood)
  • Mint Street in 1912 (renamed Carlisle in 1919)
  • Victoria Park on 22 September 1922
  • Seaforth on 4 May 1948
  • Lathlain on 2 May 1959 (now closed)
  • Beckenham in 1968/9
  • Challis on 29 October 1973 >
  • Kingsley on 29 October 1973 (renamed Sherwood 1993)

In September 1991 the line commenced electrified operation.

Between 2004 and 2005, Armadale, Carlisle and Gosnells were upgraded to provide better facilities to passengers and provide better access between trains and buses. Lathlain station was closed on 3 February 2003 as part of the project.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s I caught the train from Gosnells Railway Station into Perth each day on my way to work. As part of the electrification upgrade Gosnells Railway Station was relocated about 400 metres northwest, from southeast of Dorothy Street to southeast of Stalker Street. I don't recall ever catching the train to or from the new station, even though I am entitled to free rail, bus and ferry travel.
