This church, dating from the sixteenth century, is one of the most iconic and best preserved examples of the Manueline style, deserves special mention its magnificent portal.
The present church was built in the first half of the sixteenth century, replacing a small Gothic parish church existed on this site.
In the eighteenth century, an annex was built along the south side of the apse, closing part of the window. This annex would be demolished in the twentieth century, being then restored the initial configuration of the window. Still during the eighteenth century, a floor was added to the bell tower, with a new outer shell dome, and were executed side altars , with altarpieces of wood, and the flooring tile of the chancel.
The interventions carried out in the 1930s and 1940s sought to recover the appearance of the original Manueline temple.
