Am Fuldaufer steht die Stitzhacke von Claes Oldenburg, die zur documenta 7 in 1982 enstand. Die "Spitzhacke" ist 12 Meter hoch, sieht aus als sei sie schwebend leicht, wiegt jedoch 5 Tonnen.
Der Künstler wollte eine Skulptur schaffen, die in der Stadt auch nach der documenta bleiben würde. Er erfand zu seinem Kunstwerk eine Geschichte, die den Bezug zur Stadt herstellt:
Die überdimensionale Spitzhacke habe zum Werkzeug des Kasseler Herkules gehört, und der Halbgott habe sie an das Ufer der Fulda geschleudert, wo sie sich in die Erde bohrte und von wo aus der Stiel der Spitzhacke auf Herkules zurück weist.
Der Stiel bildet die Verlängerung der Achse der Wilhelmshöher Allee, die vom Herkules oben auf den Höhen des Habichtswaldes über 6,8km bis zum Brüder Grimm Platz führt.

At the River Fulda is the pickaxe from Claes Oldenburg, who created it for the art exhibition documenta 7 in 1982.
The 'Spitzhacke' (pickaxe) is 12m high, looks quite gracious and light, but weights a hefty 5 tons.
The artist wanted to create a sculpture to stay in Kassel even after the documenta. He imagined a story for his art, which actually establishes a relationship to the city:
This overdimensional pickaxe is part of the tools of Herkules, the statue of Herakles standing at a vantage point overlooking the city of Kassel. The divine hero had thrown it at the riverside of River Fulda, where it buried itself in the soft ground and from where the handle is pointing back to Herkules.
The handle is an extension of the axis of Wilhelmshöher Allee, a street which creates an axis the length of 6,8km from Herkules high above the city to Brüder Grimm Platz.
