In Stoughton, along Central Street, is a brick building with white trim that is the Stoughton Water Works Building, which has an interesting chimney.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission report for Stoughton had a line about the building. The report states that it was built according to the designs of Fergus McKain. The building has the year 1892 on it.
The chimney rises above the building at about the front-middle portion of it. The chimney is square and tapers slightly as it rises above the building. At the top the chimney widens out with detailing that surrounds a yellow-brick 'S' on all four sides (one looks like it has been disturbed or stained on one side).
The water works building has a circular driveway in front of the building and a driveway that leads to a DPW lot in back.
