On top of it you can see a gorgeous cast-bronze sculpture. It was created by Gabriel de Grupello in Düsseldorf (Nordrhein-Westfalen) in 1716. Primarily this sculpture was intended to the palace garden in Düsseldorf. But in 1722 the elector Karl Philipp carried it to Schwetzingen (Baden-Württemberg) and finally in 1738 to Mannheim. In 1743 the sculpture was positioned in the middle of the Paradeplatz by the elector Karl Theodor.
