Colorado Mesa University Clock and Carillon - Grand Junction, CO - Town Clocks on Waymarking.com

Installed in March of 2011, the new campus clock and carillon add to the charm of Colorado Mesa University. The clock is of an unusual design of a traditional round clock face on the building entrace side and a quarter-circle clock face on either side of the tower.

"COMPONENT OF THE CAMPUS CARILLON

The final component of Mesa State’s new carillon arrived just before the start of the Spring semester and was installed in the Moss Performing Arts Center. The system pipes chimes and tunes to the bell tower atop the new College Center at the center of campus.

The electronic system is controlled from a keyboard and computer housed in the choir room in Moss and has the ability to be heard either within the building via loudspeaker if bells are needed during a performance or through the bell tower for the whole campus to enjoy. The system also has the ability to play in the College Center Ballroom or be used during outdoor performances.

Each hour between 9 am and 9 pm, the new carillon will chime and at 11:55 each day, it will play 5 minutes of a variety of songs. The chimes can be heard 2-3 blocks around the main campus.

The new carillon system is just one more way that Mesa State is showing its commitment to improving the campus and updating technology. Many university campuses have similar bell systems and Mesa State’s acquisition of it’s new carillon gives the college a dignified musical feature fitting of our growing campus."
