The city of Melaka is at least five centuries old, and has been a centre of trade, imperialism, and intrigue for most of those years. The centre of the old town is now a UNESCO Heritage site and filled with historical artefacts. One of these is this tower clock.
The square tower is ~6m high, has four faces, and has clearly been restored, I suspect several times. According to the plaque on the clock (in gallery) it was dedicated in 1886 at the wish of a local Chinese business man, Mr Tan Beng Swee. The clock was restored in 1982 when Seiko of Japan replaced the clocks.
