In 2011, a young businessman, Ngo Trong Thanh and his associates developed VietMac burger, an authentic Vietnamese fastfood. After only three months of operation, VietMac set a record in Vietnam's franchise market.

Seven months after the first VietMac opened in Hanoi, there was six more in operation. Forty more restaurants are expected to open in the next few months in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hai Phong.

The VietMac rice burger comes in beef, chicken, pork, fish and ostrich between two patties of rice. It is served with a tasty pink sauce and vegetables. The idea of mixing corn with the rice came from a 12-year-old boy, Thanh's son.

Mac stands for "Meal is Absolutely Convenient" which is the slogan of the chain.
