Oklahoma City Zoo Now & Then is a thin book full of wonderful photos of the zoo animals. Some of the photos are from decades ago, and are in black and white. Each section includes a description of a particular habitat or a story about an animal that lived there. Some of the stories are about favorite zoo animals that were in the news (like school kids donating pennies to buy an elephant, or 10 year old Oklahoma singer Gayle Peevey singing "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" and helping the zoo purchase Mathilda the hipppo.
Some of the sections include: Hooves and Horns, Awesome Apes, Gone to the Dogs, Our First Bears, and Oklahoma Trails.
The Oklahoma City Zoo is open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Cost for admission is $8/adults, $5/children 3-12 and Seniors. Visitors are welcome to bring food and drink into the zoo, but glass and straws are not allowed. Smoking is prohibited at the zoo and in the parking lot.
