Jimmy Riddle was a long time member of Roy Acuff’s, “Smokey Mountain Boys.” He was an accomplished piano and harmonica player who was featured prominently in Roy’s road shows and on the Grand Ole Opry. Jimmy also teamed with Jackie Phelps on the TV-Show “Hee-Haw.” On the weekly TV show, the two would be featured doing a knee slapping –eefing routine that would become one of the shows most popular segments. Jimmy died in 1982 and is resting the mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

The coordinates for this waymark were taken at the mausoleum entrance. Mr. Riddle's resting place is located on the first floor of the mausoleum. West Hall, last room on the right.
Description:
James Lawrence “Jimmy” Riddle was born on September 3, 1918 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. An accomplished piano and harmonica player Jimmy began entertaining for tips at the the age of 16 before moving to Texas where he met Roy Acuff. In 1943, Jimmy would become a member of Roy’s band the “Smokey Mountain Boys.” He would remain a member of the “Smokey Mountain Boy” for the next 40-years. Jimmy was all a regular star on the “Hee Haw” TV-show in the late 1960’sand early 1970’s. In addition to his musical talent, Jimmy was often featured with Jackie Phelps in the Hambone knee slapping –eefing routine that became a popular Hee-Haw staple. Jimmy Riddle died on December 10, 1982 in Nashville Tennessee. He is resting in the Mausoleum at Nashville’s Woodlawn Memorial Park.
