The bridge was moved here in 1958 and carried road and pedestrian traffic over the entrance to Greenland Dock. The demise of the Surrey Docks led to other uses being found for the area so redevelopment took place. The land to the northern side of the bridge was filled in and the road straightened and widened to avoid it. The bridge was left where it was and has been paved over. It has more novelty value than usefulness and, to be perfectly honest is not needed.
