Quick Description: This marker to the 15th Georgia Infantry is located along a wooded path running parallel to the east side of Lafayette Rd, north of Vinyard-Alexander Rd in the Chickamauga National Battlefield. You can access the path from either road.

This marker to the 15th Georgia Infantry, is in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga
, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marks their postion on Saturday, September 19, 1863 at 4:00 P.M. This is one of two markers to the 15th Georgia on the battlefield.

Hood’s division was part of Lt. Gen. James Longstreet’s Corp. The two divisions of Longsteets Corp were moved by train from the First Corps, Army of Northern Virginia to Chickamauga in order to achieving a period of numerical superiority and gaining decisive results.

Short Significance Description:
|Marker contributes to national significance of park under NR Criterion A because it represents national movement among veterans & related groups to commemorate Civil War battlefields. This was the first U.S. national military park.
Short Physical Description
rock-faced, peaked-top granite slab, 4'6" wide x 6' high x 1'8" thick, that carries an inscription, with a cartridge box carved in relief above it. Marks unit's position on September 19, 1863, at 4:00 p.m.
