In Boston, where the Theatre District, Chinatown, and Downtown Crossing comes together, is the start of a new tower, the Kensington.

Unfortunately, the web site that is posted on the sign does not work. But there are two other web sites - Boston Business Journal's site, and the City of Boston.

Groundbreaking happened on October 14, 2011, with Mayor Tom Menino, Boston Redevelopment Authority Director Peter Meade, Kensington Investment Company, and Chinatown representatives present.

The $170 million building is expected to generate 400 construction jobs and employ 30 when it is finished. When completed, the building will have 381 luxury apartments and, on the sixth floor, it will have an open-air heated swimming pool with a landscaped terrace. Also included will be 110 parking spaces, retail space on the first floor, low rental space for a non-profit organization, and a space for artifacts from the Gaiety Theatre. It is expected that the building will meet the LEED Gold standard.

05/21/2015 - The building is now complete.
