This public art piece created by Day Christensen, is located in the two-story hallway / stairway of the Holladay Lions Fitness & Recreation Center. The stairway leads to the walking / jogging track that encircles the basketball courts below.
The artwork is suspended overhead and covers a large area of the stairway and beyond. It is made up of a number of metal tubular shapes painted red. The shapes are in the form of "X's", "O's, and bending "arrows", just like you would see when a basketball or football coach diagrams a play during a timeout in a game. The plaque near the bottom of the stairway reads:
GAME PLAYS
2009
DAY CHRISTENSEN
This suspended metal sculpture reflects the lines and marks used to represent the plays of a game.
A public art project of Salt Lake County
