The church was built between 1856 & 1862. Originally the bell was contained within the building proper however it is now housed in a tower to one side, following a gift honouring a parishioner's late parents. It is thought that the bell was mistakenly delivered to Braidwood having been intended for St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney.
