Curiously, Google Map street view images of these coordinates show the double helix in various states of removal, though it is now gone.

This fired up my imagination, because I remember when that happened, even though it was many years ago now.

I recall it being on every local news venue: television, radio, the newspaper, and online.

In addition to some online articles remaining (visit link) (visit link) , and (visit link) , I came across a series of images of the dismanteling process (visit link) that supports the satelite street view images that first caught my attention.

Unfortunately, with online archival being what it is, I can only show you what is available today. The links within the links above articles are broken, as aging content was removed from RNews webpage and the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper online.
