Morgan's Raiders Enter Ohio and Burn the Bridge Behind Them #23 Sign/Marker John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail 1863 in Indiana: In the afternoon of July 13, 1863, General Morgan crossed the Whitewater River just a few hundred yards north of here; his strung out and exhausted troops followed and managed to burn the bridge behind them. They moved into West Harrison, Indiana and then on into Ohio. Just as in Indiana, the Raiders pillaged stores in Harrison, Ohio.
