The plaque for this obelisk reads the same as its
matching obelisk:
"Black siltstone obelisk of
King NectaneboII of Egypt
Thirtieth Dynasty, about 250 BC
According to vertical inscriptions, Nectanebo set up this obelisk and its fellow
(exhibited on the other side of the Court) at the doorway of the sanctuary of
Thoth, the Twice-Great, Lord of Hermopolis."
The registration number of this piece is
524.
Sadly, the obelisk is incomplete but was believed to have stood at 5.5m in
height. It now stands at just over half that height. The museum has a fact card
about the
pair of obelisks.
