MS Scandinavian Star was a car and passenger ferry built in 1971. The ship caught fire in 1990, killing 158 people shortly after leaving Oslo's harbor. That's where this memorial to the disaster can be found.

I was strolling through Oslo, during my 4 days visit, when I came across this memorial. I didn't know about the disaster but the dramatic piece of art really caught my eye and encouraged me to read about the events once I got home.
It all happened in the night of the 7th April 1990. Two fires broke out leading to the disaster which ultimately killed 150 people. Some leads may suggest criminal fire but it was never proved.
The memorial consists of a list of the 159 victims and a statue of a mother pulling his son hand while the kid tries to reach his teddy bear left behind.
