Morgan Finds a Hoosier Oasis - #14 Sign/Marker, John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail 1863 in Indiana: Throughout the day of July 11, 1863 Morgan's troops moved northward from Lexington toward Hinesville (now Blocher), Deputy and Paris. "As a diversionary tactic, a regiment of cavalry rode eastward on the Kent Road creating a sense of panic in Madison." The main column reached Paris where water was found at the well in front of the general store. Looting continued as per usual... Union troops followed Morgan on July 12 watering their horses from the same pump.
