Town Creek Encampment - # 13 Sign/Marker, John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail 1863 in Indiana. Most of Morgan's men camped in nearby fields in this vicinity on the north outskirts of Lexington on the night of July 10, 1863. Some of Morgan's troops stole from businesses and plundered homes while others scoured the coutryside for horses to replace there worn-out mounts, before departing norhtward the next day.
