In recogition of the Songhees Nation being the first nations in the Victoria area, the City of Victoria installed these pair of Spirit Poles.

The First Nations community, the Songhees were the occupiers of what is today the City of Victoria at the time of European contact. To recognize this nation the City of Victoria added these pole to Centennial Square.
