Father Daniel Quigley, appointed in 1884, purchase the ground on the northwest corner of St. Philip and Radcliff Street in order to build a bigger church. On December 12, 1886, Mass was held in the basement of the new church.
On May 15, 1887, St. Patrick was solemnly consecrated.
