The monument is in the middle of a traffic circle in the city. Caiçara is a tupi word that means fisherman. It refers specifically the the fishermen of Sao Paulo's northern coast. The word comes from the tupi language. The sculpture is abut 20 ft tall ans is of a man holding a pole.
