To the best of my knowledge, this clock has always been functional, but recently (1992)the whole building went through a renovation, and the clock was cleaned and serveced at that time.
Dedicated in 1911, the building is listed on the Register of Historical Places. The clock is Seth Thomas, and is original to the building.
