Matriz is a work by the Portuguese artist Rogério Timóteo.

The sculpture made with stone and iron represents a human being inside a breaking column. Like a bird coming out of an egg. It can simply represent the indexation of the human being in one of the many matrixes existing in today´s highway of information of, the rebirth of the human being (in Spanish language the matriz/matrix is the same as the female uterus).
In many his works Rogério uses the human figure with geometric figures and the contrast between the black and the white.

Rogério Timóteo is a Portuguese Sculptor. He was born in 1967 in Sintra where he lives and works. He has participated in 23 individual exhibitions and more than 100 colective exhibitions. He has works in private collections in Portugal, Switzerland, France, Germany, USA, England, Poland, Canada and Spain. His public artwork can be seen mostly in Portugal.
