Tenterfield is known as the Birth Place of the Nation which is related to a speech given by Sir Henry Parkes on 24 October 1889. The speech referred to as the 'Tenterfield Speech' put in motion the popular movement resulting in Australian Federation on 1 January 1901. The speech was given in a hall behind the School of Arts.

The School of Arts is in original condition & features interactive displays relating to Australia's federation.
